Refrigerated delivery
We deliver to Great Britain, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland. There is a minimum order value of £75 for courier delivery.
Delivery charge
Delivery charges vary depending on the size of the order and the delivery location and are calculated at the checkout.
Biodegradable, compostable packaging and delivery boxes
Our standard order packaging boxes are special recyclable boxes with gel ice that is food safe and can be defrosted and poured down the drain. The meat is insulated while in transit by thick sheep's wool wrappers which can be composted at home or at your local recycling centre.
We also offer an upgrade to shipment in a polystyrene insulated box lined with wool and ice. This option is recommended for quick frozen items and also for shipping any meat in warm weather. You can buy this upgrade here
Choose from two delivery options
- Signed for delivery
- No signature delivery
Signed for Delivery
This is our standard courier delivery service. Signed for delivery means that the courier driver will not deliver the parcel without being able to hand it over to someone at the delivery address and will require a signature for the receipt of the parcel. This means that with this option someone has to be at the delivery address to sign for and receive the parcel. This option is selected at the checkout.
No Signature Delivery
No Signature Required delivery means that the driver will leave your parcel in a safe place (which you can choose) and will not require a signature. No one will need to be home for this option. This can be booked by purchasing an upgrade to our standard courier delivery service here
Shipping days & deadline for placing orders for courier delivery
- Orders for Parcelforce delivery will be shipped on the next available shipping date, unless you instruct us otherwise with a note on your order.
- Shipping days are Monday to Thursday for delivery by Parcelforce on Tuesday to Friday.
- If an order contains items which are not available we will ship the order on the next available shipping date when the items are available e.g. if an order contains chicken products which are only received by us on Thursday afternoon or Friday we will delay shipment until the next available shipping date which will be Monday of the next week.
- The deadline for placing orders for Parcelforce shipment in the same week is Wednesday 4pm - this is because the courier requires 1 days notice to set up a booking so orders placed after close of business on Wednesday will not be seen by our staff until Thursday morning, which is too late to book a next day courier. We do not ship on Friday because that would mean parcels would be stuck in the delivery depot over the weekend (the courier depot staff and drivers do not work on Saturday or Sunday.)
- We aim to ship all orders placed by Wednesday 4pm in the same week but please note that during exceptionally busy periods shipment may be delayed until the following week.
- Orders placed from Wednesday 4pm to Friday 5pm will be booked for courier collection on the following Monday for delivery on Tuesday.
- We aim to ship all orders booked over the weekend on either Monday or Tuesday (depending on the volume of orders placed) with expected delivery by the courier on the day after shipment.
- If you need your order to be delivered on a certain day, please put a note on your order telling us which delivery date you need. We will try to accommodate that if possible (taking into account the volume of orders and our available staffing). If it is not possible to ship on the date you requested we will let you know to arrange an alternative.
Minimum order size for courier delivery
PLEASE NOTE! The minimum order for courier delivery is £75 - if there is less than this in your basket the courier delivery option does not display. To fix this add more items to reach the minimum order value. Please note the minimum order value for a subscription purchase is £75 (sterling) - this can be made up of many different subscription products in the one order. If you are placing an order which contains some items purchased on subscription plus some one-time purchases, the subscription items in the overall order must add up to a value of £75 or more. (Why? - this is to ensure that the subscription order we send out to you on your second and subsequent subscription order reaches the £75 minimum required for courier delivery). This requirement applies even if your initial combined subscription and one-time purchase order comes to more than £75.
Collect in person
Orders can be collected at our farm on Friday 2pm to 6pm or on Saturday 2pm to 6pm. Please order by Thursday 12 noon for Friday collection and by Friday 12 noon for Saturday collection. There is no minimum order for collection in person.
How is my order kept cold in transit?
Compostable & recyclable shipping packaging
Our standard parcel delivery boxes are biodegradable cardboard lined with sheep's wool to keep the meat cold, and are packed with super low temperature gel ice packs which can be reused or thawed and poured down your kitchen sink.
We also offer the option of shipping in a recyclable polystyrene box for customers who want to ensure their meat stays frozen for the longest duration in transit.
Biodegradable, plastic free meat packaging
We are now packing our minces, sausages, steaks, chicken portions, burgers, braising steaks, casserole cubes, chops, livers and heart in Eco Pouches, which are fully home compostable and biodegradable vacuum packing pouches.
PLASTIC FREE
These pouches are plastic free, that is, not derived from fossil fuels. Eco pouches are PLA FREE (PLA, or polylactic acid, is a processed bioplastic which releases substances that are harmful to health and have the potential to be toxic). They’re made using 100% natural foods stuff ingredients - the main ingredients are paper, eucalyptus fibre, cassava and corn starch – which are made into a plant-based polymer sheet that behaves much like plastic. They are manufactured in the UK.
FULLY COMPOSTABLE
Eco pouches are fully compostable -domestically within 26 weeks at ambient temperatures and within 12 weeks industrially at 60 degrees. This has been externally verified and accredited by internationally renowned safety, quality, and environmental group TUV (Austria) to composting standard SO370 for Industrial and domestic.
OCEAN FRIENDLY
The pouches are also ‘ocean friendly’ with their properties to break down within 26 weeks when exposed to a typical sea environment.
SUITABLE FOR ALL TYPES OF FOOD STORAGE
These Eco Pouch biodegradable Vacuum Pouches are suitable for Sous Vide cooking, ambient, chilled, and frozen food storage. These biodegradeable vacuum Pouches have been approved under the European Directive EC 2002 / 72 for food contact and also confirmed as having no GMOs (genetically modified organisms).
How much meat to order
Here is a general guide - based on average portions.
Turkey - allow approximately 1.5 lbs (675 g per person). For turkeys under 14 lb allow approximately 2 lb (900 g) per portion as the bone to meat ratio is higher for smaller birds.
Goose - allow 2 lbs (900 g) per portion. The biggest geese are only about 11-12 lbs (approx 5.5 kg) so if you need to feed more than 6 people you will need 2 geese.
Chicken (whole, on the bone) - allow 1 lb (450 g) per portion.
Duck - allow 1 lb (450 g) portion.
Pheasant - 1 pheasant feeds 2 people.
Guinea Fowl - 1 guinea fowl feeds 4 people.
Ham, raw. Order 8 oz (225 g) per portion. This will give you 4 oz (110 g) of cooked ham per portion. Ham loses approximately 1/3 to 1/2 its weight in the boiling process, so if you need 2 kg of cooked meat, you should order 4 kg of raw ham.
Meat on the bone (e.g. Rib Roast) - allow 1 lb (450 g) per portion.
Meat, boned (e.g. Rump roast/Topside Roast/Boned Pork Loin) - allow 8 ounces (225 g) per portion.
Meat boned for casserole (e.g. venison casserole pieces) allow 4 oz (110 g) for a casserole with equal vegetable ingredients e.g. mushrooms, onions, carrots. If the casserole meat is just poached in wine, allow 8 oz (225 g) per portion.
